Guess what I have???? One of these! Finally. I've been wanting one for a year and since I never gave up on it I guessed I'd want one till I got one and not lose interest....sooo I got one. And it has a radio....and randomly, a video camera. I'm not sure why. But it seems we must ALWAYS have a video camera about our person, whether on our phone or our MP3 player because it is now required. In case anything cool happens like a UFO flies past and we need to catch it on film. Also, due to an offer I got this with it. So it won't get scratched. Those buggers scratch so damn easily, it's not even funny. My old brick I currently have (nicknamed Lucifer because his battery is faulty and he is sometimes a bit of a devil) got so scuffed on the back even after a couple of days of owning him so he now lives in a rubber skin. For all those of you who haven't clicked the links, I'm betting this is all sounding pretty dirty right now XD Incredibly, a load of people have no idea of the photo one's existance. It was the first colour version to be released (colour screen that is) and also the first one that allowed you to store photos on it. Now I must wait for my new purple one to arrive. Yes, the fact it's purple makes me gleeful. I've wanted a purple one for the longest time. It's been shipped so I hope it gets here by the weekend.

In other news, [info]destroyah_des  I got your card today, thanks so much! I've yet to open it since I just got home from work and I had to have dinner but I will put it up with my other cards. Yes I still have them all up and I haven't got round to taking down my decorations yet either. That will happen tomorrow, provided I haven't tripped and fallen to my death on the double paper round I have to do. I'm doing them both tomorrow so I'm free for the weekend. Work was fun today but I really wish it would snow in this town. Next week there will be more snow, maybe we'll get lucky then.

I have much to do tonight, finish a comic, complete another comic, write a review of Spirited Away since that is the movie I'm reviewing this week and try and finish the review or at least most of it. Luckily this is one movie I don't have to watch to review because I know it by heart. I will at some point watch the subbed version though since people say it is superior to the dubbed (as these things usually are) and I have both versions on my two disk set. But now, I'm watching ALF and getting these comics done!

He motioned for me to come over, and to come outside into the freshly falling snow and then he shut the door behind us. I was like "What...? What..?" but he just pushed and pulled at my hoodie until we were both running in the snow and my phone fell out but i left it behind and we went into the middle of the parking lot. "Look." he said proudly and pointed into the lot and I began to grin.
Hey snow, you're okay today.

...partially because my car has a bad tire and its in the shop, so I haven't had to drive in it. I can't help it if my rabbit was born defective and is now in the shop getting fixed.

I keep hearing, repeatedly lately, when one door closes another opens. I don't really see how that would be true in the real world unless its like a video game world and they have to code in the ability for you to win the game. [...and I just lost the game. :( ] It's been funny lately. The little bad things have been coupled with little good things. Its almost comical, but lets be realistic here I'm kind of afraid to laugh.

When I visit Megan usually there are feral cats, or cats that people have dumped running around the dumpster. Sometimes they sit on my car. Sometimes they divebomb my head in frantic attempts to jump out of the dumpster when I walk past.

With my arms full I walked into megan's apt building, and paused on the stairs to reshuffle to see cowering on the stairs in a tiny ball behind a post a kitten. We just stared at each other for a good few seconds, probably both trying to asses the situation of "....what do i do now??". I managed to scoop her up into my arms and add her to the pile. She just sat in my arms appearing much less afraid and more curious which was good 'cause I was afraid she would freak out and bolt. I went into megan's apt and was like "idk what to do with this plz help" basically. :P Megan basically fell in love with her from the spot, and once on the ground the kitten began to explore and appear rather well adjusted from being pulled loose from some stairs and dumped in a strange room. We buy her stuff, and she starts eating as soon as we place the food down, and she pops a squat as soon as the litterbox goes down. Megan praises the heavens and I am pleased that this is better than torpedo-cat that I neglected to catch in mid air. We think she was recently dumped since she is trained, there aren't any signed up.
So pretty cool, I rescued a kitty from what probably would have been a very cold and snowy fate. Shes sweet. And playful.

Xmas... rather uneventful. My uncles dogs are weird and they love salad. We are all in the other room... and mom walks back in the kitchen to see the little grey poodle on the table eating from the main salad bowl. She starts yelling and laughing, and tells us not to tell the grandparents, because we are still fucking eating that salad. 8) New years... rather uneventful. Finally watched Inglourious Basterds. Bonjerno.
Now this is the new years, and I don't feel any different.
The clanking of crystal, explosions off in the distance.

And all I want to do is sleep...

Oh, and I got a new boyfriend and his name is Channel. O(_,_______,_)O
He was totally making kissy faces at me and rubbing his little nose on the glass and I got videos of him an' everything. *^^*

i dont really have anything horribly interesting to update about. just hangin out in PA. it snows lightly a lot. its also very cold.

we were driving to brandons the other day when matts car blew out. it was 14 degrees and had some fierce wind outside. and we had to finish walking to his house. ahhh so fucking cold. i thought i was going to die. luckily it wasnt SUPER far away.

we had to steal his sisters car to go and celebrate brandons birthday a few days later, which he promptly ramped off a curb and it started leaking gas. its a shame theres no PA version of carl here. ohhh, florida. how i miss thee. his birthday was pretty fun. played jenga and this other 'stack oddly shaped wooden blocks together without them falling' game bandu.

still unsure of when im going to go back to MD. but its not too bad right now, aside from being cold all the time. hope matts car is fixed cause i wanna go on some adventures, damnit!

I have been in a weird mood. :| Just.. angry that I pretty much wasted 2009 as far as art development goes. I'm too embarrassed to even attempt an improvement meme because I don't think there is any.

I've been trying to read a couple perspective tutorials but there are still a couple very basic things I just don't get :T (and countless more complicated things I don't get lolll). It's irritating meeee. But hey, I've managed to draw some pretty hot rectangles. I'm beginning to understand all those liiines people draw all over the picture when showing how things line up though. Auughh >:I. I never even made an attempt at comprehension before ooops. I guess I just need more time with this stuff. After wasting so much of it. :c

I've been struggling to draw today, I doodled this one which looks pretty similar to this. Two year difference between them, and both took about 20-30 minutes I guess. Mmm, damn. :\ If you like the old one more, please tell me why.

Anndd if you'd be so kind, please tell me what YOU think I need to improve on. I would love to hear it ;^;. STOP DRAWING ANIMAL PEOPLE is totally a valid crit by the way. For those of you without a DA or whatever, the snorefestmy gallery is over here.

Under the cut of course....four pics )

In other news, there has been this white stuff around lately. In my town. The rest of the country has THICK SNOWFALL. This little seaside town got some pathetic sleet this morning which died because it melted and then wouldn't settle again. I mean its 3 inches in some places, over a foot in other places and we still get NOTHING in my town. It really does suck here. I want it to snow like crazy overnight so Terry can't get the papers tomorrow and I won't have to do a delivery. I have the shoe store after that. I only want to go to one job tomorrow XD but I've no doubt he'll be able to get out of this little town and drive the 2 hours to the paper printers and pick them up. We call that Sod's Law. I believe you US people call it Murphy's Law. Same thing.

Also, [info]neo53  I love you for giving me this music for Xmas *hugs* One Jean Michel Jarre song was so good, I wanted it injected into my brain (the beginning of track 6 from the Magnetic Fields album - called Bonus Track 1) although the 70s music was really REALLY freaky sounding XD I love the style change here. So awesome, it paints pictures in my mind.

Earworm: a song, tune, or commercial jingle that gets “stuck” in one’s head, such that it seems to repeat itself involuntarily.  Earworms are often described as “catchy” music that becomes annoying.  An earworm is not actually heard, but rather rehearsed mentally.

No one knows why they occur, since almost any song could become an earworm. One theory, "cognitive itch", says that music can act like biochemical agents that causes itches on the skin. The only way to relieve it is to listen to it, which results in the song being stuck again and causing a long loop of mental torture. Another says that earworms occur as a result of thought suppression: trying not to think about something, like blue elephants or The Game.

A property of acoustics known as resonant frequency may be a cause as well; certain songs may cause a part of the body to vibrate at the same frequencies as what is playing. So far, no one has explored this.

Source: www.business.uc.edu/earworms/101

I frequently suffer from them, as you can tell by the new designation in my LJ entries for what I'm listening to. Wish I knew how to cure them; at least certain earworms, like Gregorian chants, are much less annoying than, say, Caramelldansen or Joy Electric. ^^;

I am going to stop listening to the voice that tells me I'm not good enough.
I am going to make time for what I like to do.
I am going to draw more. [8] )

If you find yourself at the crossroads of insomnia and insanity, this is the place to channel those demons that keep you sleepless. Vivid pictures, poetry, ruminations, and confessions from the nether hours between dusk and dawn. Originally formed to celebrate the city at night, there's a strong urban theme.

Self-described as "a little community with a lot of rage," you can soak up impassioned vibes and read blistering exposes detailing sexist attitudes in the news, pop culture, and science! A must-join community if you are, or love, a feminist. (NB: the topic of whether a "man" can be a feminist is outside the scope of this spotlight, but will probably wind up on the Writer's Block.)

You know, as much as people love to joke about "internet r serious biznezz", it really is a good summary of how difficult it is to be taken seriously online. I used to think it was just Furries Being Stupid Furries TM, but frankly, it's pretty bloody rampant across the board.

Case in point, not long ago I made a very simple post asking a very simple question: "Dear community, I am Chinese and was curious as to who else out there might also be of asian descent? I'd like to meet some other asian folks in this community, so please comment if you are!" This simple inquiry was then met with well over a hundred+ responses and comments from folks with a grand total of about maybe 10 of them ACTUALLY being asians. The rest were folks chiming in to tell me they were anything but, or to crack jokes.

Okay, sure, people like having an opinion, people like to joke, people like to talk, and my friends like to tease me. That's fine, that's great, honestly I kind of half-expected such a response. So I took it in stride, it was funny, but I was still curious about my question, so I made a second attempt at a post, asking folks to please refrain from the jokes and to really, take me seriously.

I got back pretty much the same exact result as the first time with the added bonus of attracting a few trolls blatantly trying to start shit by calling me a racist. Classy. I ignored it, but at this point, I just gave up because I pretty much knew it wasn't going to go anywhere*.

As funny as it might seem, I was frustrated by the ordeal just for the simple principal of people not knowing how to answer a simple question. It just furthers the idea that being taken seriously online is a rarity, no matter how big or small the subject matter. Granted the audience I was reaching out to isn't exactly known for its maturity level but COME ON. I hate knowing that such an idea is cemented in my mind, and I know there are exceptions to the rule (many of whom are reading this now), but the number of times I've been proven right is just ridiculous. It's a sad and frustrating thought.

This isn't a well-thought out entry and I'm pretty sure I'm just babbling and spewing bad grammar, but it's something I wanted to mention. I'm sure I'll get made fun of heartily for even posting this, but hey, INTERNET. And people wonder why I don't post much for serious personal life stuff on here ;)

*In the very end I did end up getting a handful of useful responses to my original question.

Yesterday I was at Barnes and Noble, pondering what to buy with my $25 gift card from there. I came in there aiming for "Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven, but Nobody Wants to Die" by David Crowder and Mike Hogan. Crowder's "B Collision" EP comes with a couple excerpts from it. I like his writing style, having borrowed "Praise Habit" from Tom last summer (and highlighted/underlined in it, since I'm one of those people... >_> <_<). The concept of linking bluegrass with eschatology seems fascinating, but as I flipped through the pages, this new book seems to deal a lot with grief. Aside from this Friday the 8th being the first anniversary of Yuoo's passing, I haven't really dealt with grief. So maybe I'm not ready to read the book yet. Maybe as a good theological book, not necessarily applying to me.

I picked up the only copy that the store had and went over to the arts/games section to see what I could buy with the change remaining. Upon looking through the art instruction books, I came upon this:

Pros:
-Really well put-together. Gorgeous pictures in there.
-Covers a lot of the basics, from perspective to shading to basic anatomy.
-Compares toony, realistic and semi-realistic styles. Most of the art has a semi-realistic slant to it.
Cons:
-Not familiar with the artists/authors, so I don't know what kind of credibility they have in the furry community.
-Not a whole lot of variety in species. Got your basic canines, felines, rodents, and birds, plus a chapter on equines. No exotic or mythical creaures, just fantasy variations like a magic purple fox.
-Seems a bit advanced for a noob like me, even though I'm told that furries should start out drawing realism first.

So what to do? Something that'll help me in my walk with Christ, or something that'll help me get better in my art? A book about death...or drawing?

I ended up with "Draw Furries". As much as I like David Crowder...I don't think I need to read his book right now. I want to try drawing different art styles than the super-toony stuff I've been learning from Christopher Hart's "How to Draw Cartoon Animals".

Man, I miss Yuoo...I hope I can get through this week OK.

I'm sorry for the delay on the icon commissions, naturally silvester celebration and the day before and after left me socially busy as well.

And I'll be going to an art school on the 5th January in Cologne for an interview, since I'm applying there, and they'll be reviewing my portfolio so I'm busy getting it together, but once I get back I'll be back to commissions right away!

I just wanted to let you know, and I hope you had a great new year's eve. :)

For this end-of-the-year thing, I'm going to do one significant world event for each month and one significant personal event.

-I go to LA for callbacks for the Jeopardy! College Championship...and turn 21 at the end of the month.

December:
-A bomb squad in Reykjavik, Iceland, searches a diverted Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt, Germany, to Detroit, Michigan, United States, that carries a bag whose owner did not make it onto the plane.
-I get new glasses!

This year's been a blessing; I lost some friends but made a bunch more; finally taking steps in recovering from anxiety, my inferiorrity complex and other things; finally got to do a great show at school. God's been really good to me. Here's to His blessings being even greater in 2010!
